Or use the ALT+numeric value combination, the advantage being that you do
not need to click on anything. This is especially good if you have just a
few symbols that you use often. For example, I often write in Danish, and
so need to use the three special letters in that language:
å = 0229
æ = 0230
ø = 0248
And it works in virtually all applications.
