Mike,
I have just checked the Scene Modes marked on the dial. Focus assist works
in all of these. It did not work on the basic "Scene" position, but this
has a lot of subsets, which I did not check out.
If it is supposed to work in the manual or semi-manual modes then I probably
have something blocked somewhere in the menu. That gets way too deep to
explore tonight.
