I've had one for years, initially got it so I could mount a remotely
triggered OM on the bull bar of my vehicle. I haven't used it off the
bitumen (blacktop, tarmac ?) but it's never given me a problem, very secure
mounting. I use an old, simple & cheap manfrotto head to attach the camera
body to the super clamp. The super clamp works well for other stuff too,
like mounting a remote flash and I've seen them used in pairs for building
up a simple framework with tubes.
