Hi Ken,

While I have a battery powered push button phone that my wife prefers, my 
absolute emergency phone is this old AT&T desk phone with an amplified 
handset.  I used it a few days ago while replacing and charging the 
batteries in our cordless phones.

As a part of our fiber optic installation, we have a standby battery that 
powers the phone system for several hours.  Of course, standard cordless 
phones are useless without electricity.
