Al, who served a lengthy air force career all over the world before retiring in
our area, is a regular in the airport terminal. I think he is about three
years older than me, so we have common interests. He maintains his medical
certificate and has a small homebuilt 2-seater that he enjoys on some days,
when he can fly locally to keep his hand in.
Today's subject was the coming presidential election, a discussion I avoided
because it is not conducive to maintaining friendships. But he seemed right at
home, reading the monthly newspaper published by the local USAF establishment.
