In my case, that issue approaches 'paranoid' levels :-) :-)
I *NEVER* use a cap on a rangefinder lens, unless it's on the shelf for
storage. A proper hood and/or a humble UV filter is the way to go for me.
Sitting on my desk I can see now my M2, with a 'standard quality' Hoya
filter in front of the type-IV 35mm Summicron.
Heresy? I'd call it 'peace of mind' ;-)
