I prefer Cambridge, as the colleges along the "Backs" of the River Cam, which
are what I visualize when I think of Cambridge. The Oxford colleges don't have
that presence. Of course I'm biased, having (mis)spent three years at St John's
(Cambridge) in the late 60s. I only visited the centre of Oxford in the 90s,
when my parents moved to Abingdon. Different eras, and my recent visit to
Cambridge after nearly 40 years showed me how much parts of the city had
changed (but not the view from the "Backs"). I do suspect that the centre of
Oxford is more commercial that the centre of Cambridge.

Before I visited Oxford, I thought Oxford is an old city since University of
Oxford is an over a thousand years university. But actually Oxford is a very
modern city. Compare with Cambridge, I do like Cambridge since more old style
buildings there. Besides, although both the cities are university, the
atmosphere of school in Cambridge is better. Oxford seems a commercial city,
just my 2 cents.
