And here I thought the choice of OM over Nikon F, Canon FD, etc. was one of
taste and discrimination. :-)
A choice between MF OM and AF with Canon's EF mount, had more to do, I think,
with the complete failure of Oly's foray
into film AF.
Take a look at Oly's AF lenses for the 707 film body. Manual Aperture control
on the lens is gone, in favor of a system
for manual control much kludgier than Canon's: "Programmed aperture selection
can be overruled ... on the OM-707 by
means of Program Shift."
As they entered the AF fray again with 4/3, Oly naturally abandoned the manual
aperture ring on their lenses too.
