I think you may not have seen these trees? They only grow in a limited extent
along the coast of N. Calif.
They naturally look much like that in any* light. Bring on the classic coastal
low overcast and they look exactly like
Robert's image, like a world drained of color. Let the marine layer come down
and be fog, and they are downright spooky!
