I've been experimenting with my Epson 1400. No apologies for this
printer. I like the Claria dye inkset and glossy papers. Under glass
Wilhelm said these inks will last 100 years, which is about how much
longer I expect to live, assuming I have such a nice wife to be with
(all bets off otherwise).
BW inkjet prints seem OK to me, but they look Bromide-ish. So long as I
print with profiles, the result is the same.
I decided to try to make a curves action which will "tone" the print.
I'm trying to get a selenium toned look.
This is an image I posted a couple of weeks ago:

The image is webbed out directly from the scanned negative with my final
decisions about tonality.
This is a scan of an *inkjet print* of the big version of the image
above:

The print had the "selenium toning" curves action applied before
printing. The print was scanned using Vuescan. I had to do some
adjustments to bring it a little closer to the tonalities of the
original. No, I don't think I will be scanning inkjet prints in the
future. I thought it might be interesting to see if I could convey the
effect of the resulting print after the "toning" was applied, since I
can't show you the actual "toned" inkjet print.
I feel it is worth pursuing. What think ye?
