He has done very well. It takes real dedication and hard work to build up
muscle mass. Being young certainly helps.
It reminds me of when I was doing judo. From the age of 55 to 70 with a
several years gap between. . I got to green belt from zero in two years; didn't
quite get to blue belt. I had to give it up at 70 as my body couldn't take the
stresses any more if my practice partners were too rough, nor could I
maintain enough fitness.
But it was a real incentive to do regular weights work and fitness, and 2 x 90
minutes per week of training and practice was very exciting and really great
exercise. I miss it a lot, as well as the feeling that I could somewhat take
care of myself in tricky situations. There is no judo club where I live now,
and anyhow I'm due to be 74 this year..
