I don't know Jim, but I noticed the angle of the wheels and tyres only today.
I don't think that the Spitfire's gear toes-out like that. I'll have to look
but I thought the the gear legs on the Spit were pretty well vertical.
It probably improves the effective track of the gear and reduces the chance of
ground-looping or toppling over.
