As may have likely heard, Higgs found.
CERN Director General Rolf announced:
"As a layman I would say 'We have it,' but as a scientist I would have
to say 'What do we have?' We have discovered a boson and now we have to
discover what kind of boson it is,"

Standard model is looking good. Peter Higgs was a bit tearful. Glad
he lived to see it. Perhaps it is a close cousin or brother but looks
spot on for the Higgs. 125 GeV just about where the previous data
suggested. Look fwd to more larger critters predicted by
supersymmetry.
One thing though. Some models predict the vacuum could be unstable or
at least metastable with the Higgs of this mass. Well, if so hasn't
been much of a worry to date.

In the event Armageddon is soon, would recommend loading up that OM and
taking a few pitchers.
Have a good 4th or Rebild as the case may be.
