Dean could well be right, Chuck. But... no omelets of any kind - momma wren hasn't left the box since the day I startled her by trying to recycle her house. Guess we'll wait and see what hatches (to coin a phrase [?]). I'm used to seeing the wrens in our garage, they've nested here for years, although usually on one of the high shelves - like behind, or on paint cans and such. First time ever for a bench top bassinet. .Judi (my bride of 49 years) commented on the egg color variation, too, but I never considered an "alien" species. Wow... we have a movie here!
