I wanted to get more distance from the butterflies, so I put my Takumar 135/3.5
plus an 11mm extension tube on the E-1. The Tak normally focuses to 5 ft.
With the tube, the focusing range is about 3 to 6 ft, about right to shoot the
b'flies without spooking them.
The usual subjects were there. Here is a face-off between a Skipper and a
Japanese beetle:

Another visitor showed up for the first time this year. This is a
Silver-Spotted Skipper:

The distance was fine, but manual focusing and changing aperture can be a pain.
Comments and critiques welcomed.
