I disagree. By centering the poppy like this, it uses the natural
tension of that position to accentuate the lonliness of the scene.
However, I must admit that I've been resorting to this tactic because
I've been kinda running out of ideas and the same old rules of
photography have me a bit bored.

On this picture, I'm not sure the centered eye works for me. I think
the entire format works against this shot and I kinda wish it was
square. But the B&W conversion is really good. His mood really speaks
in this picture.
