I know flickers are woodpeckers as indicated by the photos here

about is their propensity (prominently mentioned there under diet) to
dig into the ground as well and also eat lots of berries. They
apparently have a special liking for ants.
We don't have many flickers around here and I've never seen them dig
into anything but trees.
