Perhaps there is an important question that hasn't been asked, and thus not
answered. What do you think you will be
doing with these images from the road?
If you harbor the thought that a few might be good enough for large prints for
sale, the answer is different than if you
simply want nice records of your trip. Or if you might be satisfied with a
limited print size for sale.
If you work back from what you want to come out of it, defining the equipment
may be easier. Then you can try a trip or
two with Nikon kit, other(s) with G12 and compare experience and results. If
something in between seems a better choice,
then, with the aid of that experience, (re)consider what might meet your needs.
If OTOH, you simply need an excuse to try an OM-D, ignore all the above and go
for it. ;-)
