Back in the mid-late '90s, there was a style of photography where we
were mixing on-camera flash with dragged-shutter. What we'd do is
place the subject in shadow, expose for the bright background and
fill-flash for the subject. If the subject was moving, you'd get this
3D effect where the subject looked like it was suspended above the
print.
Nearly everybody doing this was using either the Nikon F5 or F100.
Anyway, I thought about this as I looked at the picture. I rather like
it. I can imagine this in print where the flower ends up looking like
it's 3D. I'd probably even do additional editing of the photo to
highlight the left edge of it to create a rimming effect.
