Actually, they are wonderful for swimming. The water is about 70F, much cooler
than the air most of the year. The main
pools are quite deep. It was fun to see how close I could get to the falls. The
power is such that one can't actually
get up to them.
The smaller, stair step pools are shallow, fun to laze around in, easy to walk
across, which is how I got the dramatic
close-ups of the falls. That huge tufa formation fell a few years later,
leaving those falls less dramatic.
