Hi Paul,
If memory serves me, the Goodyear racers had to use some version of the 85hp
Continental engine, with whatever mods they could come up with to beef up
the horsepower. This airplane is about the same size, but, I'm sure, is
carrying quite a bit more power. Googling the specs, I see it can use any
Lycoming engine from 150 to 200 HP.
