I assume you know that 'salinas' means salt works. There is a city about an
hour from us with that name, because of its
origins.
Perhaps this is an old storage building for salt scraped from evaporation beds
around it. The high window could be where
it is loaded and the flared base seems likely to be to support the weight of
the contents. The need for such a storage
facility, rather than big, open piles, could be that salt was valuable enough
to steal.
