This study seemed to come out of no where and has the Alzheimer's
research community in a tizzy as well as the public.
Current therapies that alter neurotransmitters do nothing to alter the
underlying process. The mouse model is far forom perfect though the drug
has modest toxicity though whether it works in humans, how much to use
etc. is unknown. This data at least is compelling. I bet neurologists
will be pushed severely to prescribe
it off label. It goes off patent at least in part this year and the
Japanese big Pharma Co is unlikely to fund any trials- suspect that
will not be an overwhelming issue though.
