Well, I heard from a couple of places (including here) about Google + and the
next thing I knew an invitation to join came from a (non-list but still photo)
friend. So I did.
Populated a couple of circles, chose a couple of Big Name Photogs to "Follow"
and let it rip.
Last night, after a couple of weeks if not longer, I deleted by Google +
account. Found out in doing so that unbeknownst to me, Google was putting
images I had uploaded on Picasa. Had to go to Picasa and delete them one by
one. Steamed? Not really. Just a tad annoyed.
Why delete? Well, seems the photogs I followed are addicted to posting.
Couldn't manage to find my way through all the posts from their blogs, etc., to
find any original content. Seemed like a bit of an annoyance, as I keep up with
these guys anyway, so why populate my computer with more of the same? Out of
the four, I believe only two posted original content to +. The others were
throwing up stuff from their web sites.
And then as it turns out, almost no one I know is on or wants to be on Google
+. They're all perfectly happy with Facebook. I don't like Facebook either, but
I suspect if and when I return to social media, it will be on Facebook. I don't
believe social media sites are the place to be on the cutting edge, unless you
run with a pack that goes with you and automatically populates your area with
people and stuff.
Maybe I'm just too old for this crap. <g>
