Also, if you place the reflector on with the red dots lined up, you should not
be able to turn it in either direction without pressing it back to compress the
spring. If you can, the spring may be bent.

The reflector on my T8 doesn't lock since there isn't a notch or
detent on the reflector, but the spring holds it tightly enough that
it doesn't rotate during use.
