Just a thought or two.
I'm going to wait until I've read the book to say much more; except for what's
below.
The site that Chuck posted nearly crashed Chrome browser on my machine
(due I think to the huge volume of comments) but I managed to load it all
and save it with an early version of Opera which ignores all the bloat code. I
will read it at my leisure. One MB (approx) is a hell of a lot of text.
Remember it was only 40 - 50 years ago when it wasn't too difficult to find a
medical doctor who would say either that smoking was harmless, or was
healthy. Times have changed.
There is a large body of evidence to show that red meat causes bowel
cancer.
It has been shown that eating (green) broccoli (especially if you start early
in
life) gives significant protection against cancers.
What I noticed when I was a student in zoology and botany, and on any
particular topic where there were extreme opinions held on some
controversial topic, the eventually agreed correct answer was somewhere in
the middle.
It wouldn't surprise me if this applies to the propositions made by Dr
Esselstyn. In other words, there could be substantial truth in what he wrote.
Brian Swale.
