Jez asked about Canada geese

To my knowledge, they taste really good, as do other geese.
But, like other geese, they are very intelligent, have super eyesight, and
quite difficult to hunt successful. Not an easy prey.
In NZ thy grow to the size of a greylag and domestic goose. Sometimes they
interbreed. And yes they eat lots of grass and foul it for other grazing
animals.
In NZ it is against the law to fire at gamebirds in season if they are not
actually flying. Removing them from the schedule of gamebirds removes
that protection for them. And they also get poisoned, and for years the
gamebird management organisations have sought out their eggs and
injected them with formalin to disrupt the breeding in the high country.
