> Interesting responses, everybody! (Moose, thanks for the nice read)
Yeah, the vultures circled pretty quickly. :)
Of all the Nikon F models, I liked the F3HP the best. The F2A seems
positively primative in comparison.
As to the vibration damping, sticking an MD2 on the OM-4Ti or OM-3Ti
addresses that problem nicely. That makes for a very very nice setup. In
fact, the OM-4Ti with MD2 and 35-80/2.8 lens is a solid enough mass of
goodness that you don't have to worry about the lightness of the OM body
being an issue. OK, it's downright HEAVY.
The focus screens make for an interesting discussion. The Nikons always had
better focus screen "snap" as compared to the Olympus. I believe it has to
do with the overall contrast of the screens which are greater with the
Nikon. The 1-series screens in the Olympus didn't have the "snap" but were
big and bright. Also, the apparant focus distance of the screen is
different in the Olympus (my preference). The 2-series screens improved
brightness and even contrast, but the problem there is that they are of a
microprism design which mimicks a matte screen but is anything but. The
Nikons used a "deformed microprism" surface which has the advantages of the
microprism (brightness), but mimicks matte surface better which is better
for bokeh analysis.
