Yes, for the most part black pepper is added, but I think that in order to
bring up the heat with it, you need to use tons and it is a murder on your
kidneys.
I would like Indian food if it weren't for the spices. Not the kind they use,
the amount of it.

Some of the best Indian dishes involve the use of mild yoghurt.
And the use of mustard seed and black pepper for heat, rather than chilli.
The spice powder seems like the Indian 'chat' which they sprinkle on things
like bread or fresh fruit.
