I was not aware of this. I had been under the impression that you could
not operate the E-500 through the micro-USB port. But recently I learned that
you could operate it with a PC through this interface. Perhaps this device
emulates the PC functions.
I will definitely look into this further, as the price is less than I
would spend to make a suitable bracket to hold a mechanical or pneumatic (air
bulb) shutter release.
Looks like there's quite a few of these available in the $18-$25 range
(260629127389, 260596924000). I suspect that they have a mask-programmed uC in
them that emulates the PC interface.
