The LA-4 is an attractive aircraft, Jim, thanks. I should love to have a trip
in one of those, to learn to take off and land on water; I gather from a
colleague that the technique is significantly differently from land operations.
And the Black Hawk is a purposeful aircraft in appearance. While I was Dep Cdr
on Northern Watch it was the plaform for the Combat Search and Rescue force,
operating from Diyarbakir (sp?), to rescue any aircrew who might have been shot
down during operations over Northern Iraq. But even that fantastic machine was
up against the temperature (and altitude) barrier during the Turkish Summer.
