Not necessarily. I'm rethinking my methodologies. I reshot a test
tonight where I didn't refocus at each aperture. I probably did adjust
aperture afterwards, but even so, the wide-open shots are still
back-focusing.
Tonight's test was of of a very long deck railing. The results look
quite a bit different. The images are different enough that first
impressions are quite a bit altered from the previous test. Once I
keyed in on certain traits, though, the lens characteristics were
consistant. But it is fascinating that a slight subject change and
camera angle will greatly alter the outcome of a comparative test.
