.....but immediately concluded that the
problem for the 8x10 was shooting at f/32.
I think they knew all that to begin with
which is why they didn't scan at a higher resolution... and that's why
a
follow-on scan at higher resolution didn't change anything.

Hey,
Today is a good day--the reclusive long lost 2nd cousin once removed of
Dr. Focus, Dr. D has resurfaced.
f32, Hmmmm. Makes one wonder about Group f64, though they didn't have
MF digital backs for comparison or Moosalyze the images.
