Dan, this is good advice. PPA is a good organization for the professional
photographer. As with any purchase, when price shopping, make sure the
discounted rate is also the best rate. That in no way is questioning the
benefits and services offered by the PP of A.

Candace,
If you are a PPA member you will get access to discounted rates via Marsh
who offer professional photographer specific coverage. Plus you would get
all of the other benefits of PPA membership including their indemnity
coverage which I wouldn't live without when shooting. I haven't needed to
claim but it does provide some peace of mind.

Candace, were I underwriting this risk, some of the things I would want to
know would be what is the business relationship (partners, corporation, two
sole proprietors sharing space, etc.) I would also want to know what kind
of protection you had against entry by others. This would be the kinds of
locks, window protection, how you controlled access, etc. If I were writing
an inland marine policy on your stuff as an individual and you were
allowing the other person to have access/use of your equipment, there would be
some concern.

Subject: [OM] (OT) Very OT Insurance for equipment/location
Question to the list members:
I am getting ready to take a big leap, well, big for me anyhow. Getting
ready to share a studio space with a colleague.
My question is regarding insurance for gear and for location. If anyone
has
links, companies, experiences, or info they would like to share with me I
would very much appreciate it. You may reply to me off list if you wish.
Thank you in advance. :-)
Candace
