Very interesting. When something hits the plane of focus, it is REALLY
in focus. Insanely in focus. I can tell that the lens is highly
corrected and when focused this close, there are some fascinating
artifacts in the out-of-focus highlights within the 75% to 150% of
focus distance. Focused at the minimum distance, the 100/2 is sharper
than the 100/2.8, but I prefer the 2.8 in this range because of those
artifacts. At more normal distances, or when out-of-focus sparkles
aren't present, the 100/2 smokes the 2.8.
