Nicholas,
personal choice BUT I would opt for the 28 or 35, 50 , and 85mm
combo. Also I would do the trip in Black + White. where are you going/ Eire
or Northern Ireland. Try to visit the South West coast, Mizzen Head and the
Sheeps Head way, Some really interesting towns and spectacular scenery. Have a
good trip

Subject: [OM] Doing something totally crazy
So I've decided on a two camera, two lens setup for my upcoming vacation to
Ireland. OM-4T with 35/2 and 50/1.2, and a Contax T2 as a backup. I say
this is "totally crazy" because those focal lengths (including the 38/2.8
Zeiss on the Contax) are so close to each other as to be nearly
duplicate...but not quite so. I've come to the conclusion that I very much
like the 35mm focal length in a large variety of situations, including
landscape/scenery photos and "street" shots. As an added bonus, the 35/2 is
sharp wide open. The 50/1.2 will of course be for late night/pub shots, but
I also use the 50mm as a short telephoto for head and shoulders portraits
(distortion be damned).
I was previously considering 28/85 or 21/50, but find the 21mm focal length
to have limited utility (although when done well, I REALLY like photos with
that focal length) and if I took the 28/85 combo I'd be too tempted to toss
in the 50, and I really want to keep it to two lenses (fewer choices tend to
make my photography better).
Here's a recent shot with the 35/2 I really liked (apologies if you've seen
this before):

and one more (kinda cutesy, but a fun kid shot):

This trip can't come soon enough!
