I might be in the minority here but I think your macros will improve by
using a macro flash. As it is now, my eye is drawn to the out of focus
yellow blobs in the background. A flash properly used will darken the
background and intensify the colors of the main subject (and make it look
sharper too).
My favorite macro flash is the Metz 15 MS-1. It is not a ring flash but has
two flash heads. You can adjust the ratio of intensity between the heads to
control the shadows. It even has a built-in LED to aid in focusing in low
light. The best thing for me is that it is compact and lightweight (runs on
a pair of AAA batteries)
