The statement below is only correct for perfectly exposed images. It
ignores the fact that shooting raw typically gives us another stop at
the high and low ends of the brightness scale to atone for our sins of
exposure.
Despite fancy meters, gray cards and 50 years of experience I still make
loads of exposure errors. That's why I shoot raw.
