Steady as she goes Moose writes:
As I said, this lens is particularly sharp when focused close at long
focal
lengths. Then the IS (Tammy calls it
Vibration Control) combined with my relatively steady hand help a lot,
too. I
will also have used Focus Magic.
Moose just nailed that one. I still think he would like the CV 180
that is
close focusing. It is VERY small and I sometimes carry it just in case
in a pocket with an extension tube. Working distance is great. There
is a just shipping new Sigma longish FL 150mm OS macro but as usual the
FL shrinks
as the mag increases. I had pinged Sigma about this. In case anyone
is interested:
Thank you for contacting Sigma Corporation of America.
I contacted the corporate office for the information you are requesting.
Focal Length Working Distance
1:1 78.2mm Distance Scale: 0.45m: 256mm w/ hood, 190mm w/o hood
1:1.2 86.7mm Distance Scale: 0.5m: 306mm w/hood, 240mm w/o hood
1:1.5 96.1mm Distance Scale: 0.6m: 405mm w/ hood, 339mm w/o hood
1:2 107mm Distance Scale: 0.8m: 603mm w/hood, 536mm w/o hood
1:3 118mm Distance Scale: 1m: 801mm w/ hood, 735mm w/o hood
1:5 129mm Distance Scale: 1.3m: 1109mm w/ hood, 1042mm w/o hood
1:10 138mm Distance Scale: 3m: 2754mm w/ hood, 2688mm w/o hood
Infinity 150mm
Perhaps the working distance on the Tammy is longer---just don't know.
Do I really need yet another one?? Mike
