On a bit of whim, I picked up a second-hand 12mm Cosina/Voigntlander lens for
my M8. This is the first version, which is not rangefinder-coupled. So to use
it on an M8 or any other M (or screw mount Leica), you focus by estimating the
distance. Given the depth of field involved, this is not hard to do.
But I played with the lens on my GF-1. Of course, when mounted on a MFT camera,
this lens does focus in the normal way, and as this image shows, it is
eminently possible to achieve critical focus:

But really, that is not what this lens is for. It is a lens you set on 2 meters
and do happy snaps, for example like this image at the vet:
