First car I ever drove that had something like decent handling was my dad's red
404 with beautiful tan leather interior.
Even with the early Michelin Xs that were famous for sudden break-away, it
would nicely go into a balanced, controllable
four wheel drift.
The seats that folded down into a large, soft surface were of particular
importance to me at that age. Oh yeah, what
you're thinkin'. Two kinds of good handling. ;-)
The later 504 was still decent handling, although a lot larger and heavier and
thus slower. The clutch spring was
amazingly strong. Just awful in stop and go traffic. I had my own apartment by
then, so the seats weren't important to
me any more. :-)
