Yes, Jeff. The prospect is daunting indeed.
But we all have to make sacrifices some time, and mine might be having to look a
fter my mother-in-law in close proximity (as an example).

Perhaps, but I do not think you live on your own. Think of everybody involved.
My mother died of a heart attack when I was a teenager and she was trying to loo
k after a senile mother in law in the small house we rented. Ill feelings abou
t who 'should' have been looking after my grandmother caused family strains for
years afterwards.
I was thankful that I never had to live with my father in law in his old age - W
hen he had no option but go into a home (which he had to largely fund) with othe
r old people he soon asked my wife why she had not suggested it before!
