Yes SMALL and LIGHT with good quality were paramount in Dominica.
I really wanted to try a few shots of the a waterfalls plunging into
the sea in nice light at Wavine Cyrique in Dominica.
The ONLY way to get to it was a longish hike followed a a descent down
a cliff. The rappelling crew that does the Canyons doesn't go there
so one has to balance on tree roots while holding on to a rope followed
by descending a flimsy rope ladder which is not stabilized side to side
and go down another 50 yards or so.
See: (not my shot--who would do this with one hand?)

This gave me a serious case of the Heebie-Jeebies. Rappelling in the
Canyons with good gear was a piece of cake with the harness,
carabiners, etc. I was comfortable adjusting camera settings while
slowly belaying, but the Wavine Cyrique thing was another story.
Marnie was adamantly insistent on getting down. Can't be many wives
that can use a zuiko 35 shift and do cliffs. Hope to have a few images
worth posting.
Still in one piece, Mike
