One thing cool with CHDK hack is one can set the Zebra mode at any
threshold and even have an RGB zebra to flash
any overwhelmed color channel to blink at the chosen warning
threshold--have it set to do that at half press, so usually no need to
chimp.
It is nice to know where the clipping is in the image and faster to
react to than a "blended" histo with the hack, IMO.
One has to enable the underexposure zebra part as well and the
threshold for warning can be set too. I still play with the thesholds,
though.
Wonder why the maestro Mooseter hasn't used it much on the G11? This
has been available for years but I am not aware of it as useful and
adjustable via any manufacturer firmware. Perhaps Oly will enable
something like that in an EVF on a new MFT offering.

DO NOT go closer than one-stop to
clipping. You need that headroom! That's why the flahing highlights
minus
one stop work. The flashing highlights actually kick in within that last
stop of latitude, so you'll actually end up with a bit more margin than
if
you went specifically on the scientific numbers.
