Sorry, I wasn't paying much attention to the discussion the other day of
sharpening software for out of focus images. I don't have out of focus
images per-se but I do have a bunch with a blurred center spot.
After 50 years of photography I finally managed to put a big, fat
fingerprint in the middle of the lens of my new Samsung WB650. We were
at a social gathering where I took 42 shots. Unfortunately, I was also
helping out with cooking lots of burgers and hot dogs. Starting at
about shot #6 I apparently turned on the camera and stuck my finger
square in the middle of that tiny lens. I'm sure I must have had some
cooking grease on my finger because it left a very clear and ugly
fingerprint. Most of the photos turned out OK except for a hazy and
diffuse patch in the middle with some extreme highlights showing what
looks like diffraction spikes (as in a reflector telescope).
I probably have 25-30 shots I'd like to recover as well as can possibly
be done. What are your suggestions... or condolences. :-)
ps: I assume that such a spot on a big 35mm lens would be almost
totally unnoticeable. Gotta remember to check the lens from time to
time and carry something for cleaning.
