Strangely I've heard this referred to as the major aftershock following the
last one.
It was 6.3 as opposed to a 7+ (around one tenth of the strength). Unusual for
it to come so much later but clearly related.
Far more destructive though because it was so close to the city (5km?), very
shallow and affecting structures that were already weakened.
Proximity is the killer - we have some large ones in Oz but they tend to be
just around the back of the middle of nowhere and go almost unnoticed.
