Hi Chuck,
Yes, you recall exactly correctly. Last I checked with Mr.
Michlelburger at Mirex they still haven't sold any other Mirex
Tilt-shift adapters for OM.
I may have the only one. I bugged them for 6mos and the engineers
came up with an internal release mechanism they could retain infinity
focus---quite ingenious but a smidge fussy. After I used it a few
times it only takes a second. The bayonet release mechanisms are
diffucult to design w/o requiring to long a barrell length. I sent
them images of a 4T and they engineered a teflon protector for the
screw slots to avoid trouble like with the early adaptall adapters for
Tamron. The aperture coupling pin had to be added after though they
know about this now.
It can be put on any adapter of course to use on OM Canyon 5D classic.
Mirex sells Mamiya to EOS directly of course.
Last time I checked the price it was about $450.00--but you then have
multiple T-S lenses and the Mamiya 645 lenses at least are not
overally pricey.
I had to wire money to them but they now take Paypal.
One can make landscape panos with tilt--cool. The Mirex will shift in
the plane perpendicular to the tilt. I now read the optimal tilt by
focal length from usual tripod height from a table.
I almost always over-tilted w/o it. Even with a nice bright OM VF it
can be difficult to judge by eye, at least for me. A complete lack of
LF experience was readily apparent. Perhaps I'll change that this
year.
It doesn't tilt with the Mamiya 55 N f2.8 on the rear nodal axis so
the framing changes requiring re framing/ refocus/ retilt iterations.
I think some LF cams are "yawless" eliminating this game. I have a
custom Mamiya to OM lens adapter so I can use my macro Zuikos on it as
well.
