I can confirm that as a "yes".
So, it has a dual affect/effect. Not only does it interfere with the
AF mechanism, but also screws up metering. Also note, that most
auto-flash modes (but not all) use pre-flash not off-the-sensor
metering.
I did appreciate how my A1 responds to linear polarizers, but then it
screws up the 3D matrix metering.
