Sometimes its separation (rarely fixable unless new elements are
available, sometimes (when the elements face the diaphragm blades) it
tends to be cleanable. I got a brand new looking 8mm 2.8 fisheye, where
the 3rd (?) element from the rear has turned white. Not fixable and
replacement glass not available.
