Hi Guys.
I ended up putting the controller in ebay with $125 "buy it now" and "make
offer". Someone (in UK) quickly offered $90. I counter-offered $110. He
replied with $100 and this sealed the deal.
I checked my records and I see that I paid $38.30 (with shipping included)
to buy this in ebay on Aug. 15, 2009. I remember I posted about this here.
I was very happy at the time.
What is this tell us (other that I am a lucky buyer or a greedy seller :))
No, seriously, it is telling me that selling at auctions that start at $0.01
(as I often do) is much better for the SELLER. I am willing to bet that if
this controller had gone to a regular one cent auction, it would have not
closed for more than $50. Just like I bought mine in 2009 in a regular
auction.
The fact that I start my auctions low without bothering to research the item
and establish a fixed price, is a result of my laziness. I trust the open
market to give me what the item is worth in the open market. But, I think I
am hurting myself by doing this.
In any case, I will continue my one cent auctions of my OM gear. Every week
or two I will summarize the results. This information is, I think, is of
interest to you, if you want to know what your OM gear is worth in the open
market (as a result of buyers bidding and not paying a fixed price)
George
